D@#+ you Amazon!!!

Do you know the feeling when you really really want a book? Like BAD? You´re so eager that you pre-order it like four weeks in advance?

The Iron QueenThis is the way I felt about The Iron Queen. I strated Julie Kagawa´s amazong series while I was offline (but there will be a review) and LOVED it. Back then, The Iron Queen was not yet released.

So, I pre-ordered The Iron Queen and felt really really happy. I Imagined myself on my couch with this beauty in my hands.

But you know what? I still haven´t got it yet! First, I get a mail from the amauon customer service telling me that it might take them a few days longer than expected to deliver it. No problem, see I can be very patient (sometimes). But after “a few days” I get another mail telling my that they are incredibly sorry blah, blah, blah but as of now they don´t know when or if they can deliver it. WTF? Isn´t the whole point of pre-ordering so that I get my book right on time?

This is a problem I often have to face here in Germany. Even though I pre-order pretty much ALL of my books, some still can´t be delivered. The alternative is ordering from book depository, but it also takesthem over a week to ship the books. It is sometimes slightly frustrating and one of the reasons I sometimes consider buying an e-reader, even though I love only few things more than getting a new book, opening it for the first time, admiring the cover and just skim through.

Maybe, one of these days I might get myself a Kindle. But then again, who knows if they (meaning amazon) can deliver that???

In case you are wondering now: yes, I cancelled my order with Amazon and placed a new one with The Book Depository. Ha, take that stupid online bookstore!

(I know this might be slightly boring for you, but I had t tell someone who gets why I am mad about this.)

I totally get why you're mad! I'd be very upset, too. That's why I love my nook so much. There's not many things better then clicking "buy" on the computer and then having the book instantly downloaded to my nook. Sure, I still love admiring hardback books, but for those books I just can't wait for... I love my nook. :)

At least with Book Depository, you know the book will arrive around that time. Once I preordered a book from Book Depository, the book arrived the day after the release date! Getting a book so soon after its release date is almost not possible for me, so the feeling is truly amazing :D

Ugh, I know what you mean. I got the same problem with the whole Iron Fey series. And I just received a mail earlier from the online library I usually order my books, and with the same sorry blah blah, they told me they don't have the book on the stock and I might need to wait 4-6 weeks to get it. 6 weeks?!?!*shakes laptop in frustration* Jeez, this is so unfair! Living in Romania sucks. Even more than living in German. We should do a petition or something to get their attention.:))
Let me know when the Book Depo delivers your book, I might cancel my order too.
xoxo

Totally understand your frustration! I still haven't been able to get a copy either because all the bookstores I went to last weekend were out! They actually didn't have ANY of the books I wanted that were supposed to be released on that Tuesday. Haven't gone back and checked again though because we've been having a lot of snow and ice.

But I totally understand your frustration Christine, it is completely warranted! ;)

Ugh how horrible! That would totally annoy me as well. I can't imagine how hard it is living somewhere where you have to deal with that. I take for granted I can go to a bookstore to get the book I want(even though I have to drive 2.5 hrs away I won't be complaining anymore) Maybe getting an ereader is the way to go but it sounds like you'd be like me - you get complete cover lust and like the feel of the book in your hand. I own a Kindle and preordered Shadowfever to it AND still had to buy the book because the cover sucked me in. LOL Had a hard time explaining that to my husband why I needed both. I hope Book Depository delivers you the book soon. Waiting for books you're craving sucks and having to deal with all this just makes it worse.

@Belinda I'm so jealous, I wish I had a bookstore somewhere close too! And just like you, I have an e-reader and order my books there, but when it comes to my favorite series I NEED to put my hands on the actual book. Oh well... *sigh*

@ Deea
Where can I sign the petition! :) LOL
At least you have an ereader!
I knew I shouldn´t have spent all my Christmas money on real books. But well.
I can already see the day when I´ll finally give in and buy an ereader.
Which one would you recommend BTW, Kindle or Nook?

@ Belinda
I totally know what you mean about the Shadowfever cover! It was so beautiful inline, but having it in my own hands was amazing! I love what they did with that transperant cover thingie!
It´d not thatthere are no bookstores around here, but they simply have a very very limited amount of English books in stock. Motsly just bestsellers like Dan Brown and stuff like that.
Now try order books like Raziel or Ecstasy in Darkness from a very nice (and admittedly actually quite handsome) guy who works there without blushing or being embarassed... That´s why I prefer online shopping! Noone to give me strange looks for the books I read!

@Christine I'd recommend a Nook. I'd love to have one myself.:D But I still prefer the hardcover books...*sigh* (today I ordered each book in the Iron Queen series on a different site. Now let's see which one arrives first LOL)
