On Behalf of my Sister

Guys, I need your help!

I´ve told you that I´m currently trying to get my sister hooked on Urban Fantasy and Paranormal books. Seems like I did it. She read Cassandra Clare´s Mortal Instruments series in one week straight. Which is very fast for her. (Below are the German Covers. Aren´t they pretty??)

Now, she wants more. More books that are similar to this series. Do you have any recomendations for her? She seems to prefer YA books…

I´m really looking forward to your recommendations!

Have a great weekend!

Oh great choice, but in my opinion The Mortal Instruments series are hard to beat! If she likes the writing style as much as I do, she should try Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare.
My 5/5 stars review can be found here: http://misspageturnerscityofbooks.blogspot.com/2010/09/book-review-clockwork-angel-by_29.html

If she likes werewolves, she should try " Shiver" by Maggie Stiefvater ( 5/5 stars review). Angels- Fallen by Lauren Kate( 5/5 stars review). Action and great feelings- The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Caster magic and the fight between light and dark- Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl.

I think I mentioned all of my faves now. Hope she'll find something she likes after the great Mortal Instruments series. Does she already know there are going to be 3 more novels in this series? I am really looking forward to read them:)
Have a nice weekend and Happy Halloween!

I'd also recommend Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare! In addition to that, I'd try The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa, Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken, and Paranormalcy by Kiersten White.

I agree woith all the books that Natalie and Page Turner have mentioned.
Also she could try "Hush, Hush" and "Crescendo" by Becca Fitzpatrick, "Graceling" and "Fire" by Kristin Cashore, "The Dark Divine" by Bree Despain and "Crave" by Melinda Metz!!

She will love them! :)

So glad to see your sister is on her way to join the "Dark Side" lol :-D

I would also recommend The Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead (great!), Fallen by Lauren Kate, Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, Firelight by Sophie Jordan, Nightshade by Andrea Cremer, Paranormalcy. :-)

Bringing your sister to the Dark Side, huh? I'm with you!

I'd suggest she read the Vampire Academy series by Richelle Mead -- it's one of my absolute favorites.

Other good options: Nightshade by Andrea Cremer, The Iron King by Julie Kagawa, Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater, Firelight by Sophie Jordan and, if she likes the younger writing voice, the House of Night series by P.C. and Kristin Cast (first book is called Marked).

So glad she really enjoyed the books. :) And you are doing a wonderful job at getting her hooked. I'm sorry I don't think I have much in the way of suggestions though. :)

I second the suggestion of The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.

Also Generation Dead by Daniel Waters, if she can cope with zombies.

The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine is nine books of awesome, starting with Glass House.

Not really dark, and actually not initially that magical, but an amazing YA author would be Tamora Pierce. I'd start off with the Tortall books (Alanna: The First Adventure) for a medieval-esque touch, or the Circle of Magic series (Sandry's Book) if you're more magically inclined.
